Just out of curiosity, what's stopping you from doing some of these things now? You probably cannot spend 3 months with your family in India and Dubai or go to culinary school full-time but you can definitely do all the rest while on H-1B/AOS.

My suggestion for everyone reading this is - do not send this information to your Company or HR department. They could ask us to table this additional cost. I work for Accenture so I hope that this does not apply to my employer with less than 50% employees on visa. But I'm not going to write to them asking about this because they may turn around asking us to eat this new cost.

These are all good thoughts but what u are suggesting takes some time.
The issue has two legs:
Leg 1: Process fix
Leg 2: Increasing number of greencards
What I am talking about is leg 1 and what you are talking about is for leg 2
and both are required.
Even for leg 1 - unless it is organized, nothing is going to be effective. What you suggest is an immediate action going back and forth based on frustration due to recent happenings - and I say it maybe good but not the most effective.

I think we need to first inform everybody that IV needs theirs support. we should send emails to every users to come and check the site..

Pls dont believe SriKondoji. Hez known for spreading false rumours and making lame comments thus misleading ppl. He did the same thing on the July 2 Tracker and was booted out. I happen to be a freelance writer (not a journalist). In response to this thread, I have penned a 2,700 word commentary on the current challenges titled "The Plight of Promise". I think they have to be current when they get an appointment or something like that. I am pretty sure that they accounted those 18k as CP numbers
Definitely not when you get the appointment. I am 100% certain of that. There have been cases of people going for the consular appointment and not getting it as dates retrogressed.
Only possibility is that the cases up to May were the 66K for 485s PLUS 18K for CP throughout the year until may. Right now noone wanting to get into the system will go for CP.

They highly receommended that people should maintain H1 status as much as possible until the GC process is fully complete.
Regarding EAD they said
. it is a blanket work authorization but you should watch for expiry date and maintain its continuity to keep working.
. interestingly to Murthy's surprise, the EAD has been extended by USCIS even if a MTR is pending. This is unusual as there is no written word about it and preciously USCIS used to deny EAD extensions.
. AOS is authorized stay even if your EAD expries. You are not out of status with EAD expiry but you must renew it ASAP.
. They said "You are allowed to stay until 485 is adjudicated" (meaning while using EAD)

I was dealing with GMAC Bank, But I know friends who used Wells Fargo & BAC with the status of AOS pending.
these People generally get nervous when they see a pending status, Approved I-140 will definitely help.

Even if many people write a few times to the same reporter it is ok. Make sure it is not a spam. This means,send a personalized letter and try to use different templates for cover letters.

If I may suggest it may help our funding drive if we allow smaller contributions. (20$ or 10$) both recurring and one time.
I know at least a couple of people who would do a 20$ 2-3 times a year but won't do a $50. Anecdotal but may hold true for a lot more people.

I believe this is amendment to reconcillation bill between the house and sentate bill.
Sorry, I'm still confused, but it is entirely possible its my misunderstanding of American Senate and House of Representatives proceedings. How does a Senator add an amendment to a House of Representative bill?
Are we talking about 240,000 greencards to recapture or 2,400,000?
By the way - just because you make the letters huge and bold, it doesn't make it easier to comprehend.
