So we can have all the updates from across the country related to immigration here. This toolbar, as many of you may know, is based on news items from google news that have matching keywords.

Hi,
I have applied for I-140 in Oct 2006 and hvn't recd I-140 yet (Nebraska)
My 485/EAD checks got encashed today. My questions is do I need I-140 before FP or EAD card.

Folks, I read somewhere about I-140 premium processing by paying $1000. Is it available now or is it something proposed for future? If not available now, any idea when is it going to be implemented?

My lawyer notified that he has received an RFE for incorrect info on the I-485 Biographic info form. The last entry in the "last 5 years in the US" address list contains a start date of when i was not even in the US. Apparently his assistant goofed up with a typo. He is recommending that i prepare a signed affadavit explaining to the CIS that it was an honest mistake. Would that be enough? Can the G-325 be resubmitted ?

I am a strong supporter of Comprehensive Immigraton Reform (CIR). I have been on both sides of the fence. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, I was an attorney for the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Could anyone share their experience/knowledge about getting home loan on EAD? My bank says that, for non-FHA loans, you need to be in any of the visa categories like H1, TN1, GC, ... But its list doesn't include EAD or Adjustment of Status. Can that list be challenged to include EAD? That is, how to convince the bank/lending inst that EAD is a legal/legitimate status like H1?

Diversity Lottery ends in FY08. As a baby step, to offset this why dont we ask these numbers - 50,000 to be added to EB visa quota?
I'm sure most senators will be agreeable to this - getting 50K immigrants with skills(in the future) vs 50K immigrants only

We have filed for our I-485 application.
I came to know from one of my friends that we do not receive our EAD after 90 days of receiving the receipt no
we can go to nearest immigration office to get it.
Is this the right span of time or we need to wait for more time.
How does this work.

I talked to my attorney yesterday about converting my April 2001 TR (EB3 India) to RIR regarding the "hold Harmless" rule and he told me that AILA is going to get more info on the 10th next week regarding more info and would it be safe to convert or not.
The thing holding him back right now is the fact that some of his other DBEC LC clients sent e-mail request 2 weeks ago and have still not received anything back about Prevailing wage or any ammendments.Once you send the e-mail your case is RIR only and all paper work has to be sent by April 01 or your case is closed.Now say you send for RIR conversion 15th January and it takes DBEC 1 month to get back to you and that leaves a very tight window to get all Recruitment report together by April 01.
I will post next week after the 12th and see what he says.
