Nebraska has issued only 2800 receipts for today...
How do you guys get this daily update.. going by this, it will take them 2 months just to clear first 2 days of july - even after assuming all receipts issued are for I-485 cases, which is far from truth!

The idea is very brillinat and this actually benefits the current IV core too.
Usually, people get tired of leading a non-profit, too much of ones personal resources go into it.
A new leadership will bring new energy in form of people getting a title and make them more accountable to needs.
Every current commitee(current IV core) actually is the backbone of a non-profit, cos they carry lots of assets, in terms of connections they have developed, money they have accumulated, goals that they have set, etc...
So the current IV core can support the new commitee and take their help to take the organisation forward.
And as I previously mentioned, the organisation does not or should not cease to exits once our goals are met, they should then be lead by other non-immigrants who will have a whole different set of issues.

for eg. the 2009 members (paid), can vote for the IV president and the committe.
it doesnt make sense for evey EB immigant to go and start a new non-for-profit.

I just registered for IV. I wish I could come to DC rally on 18th. But due to certain unavoidable circumstances I may not be able too. Though not an excuse But I feel very guilty about it and this guilt will always remain there that I was not part of rally on 18th. i wanted to aviod posting this, but please include a bit of realism in your optimism. Full disclosure: i am EB 3-I
We had a discussion on our chapter here is the extract of the email that i sent based on a couple of similar comments from fellow members.
After talking to a few of the fellow members, i feel that one the main causes for inaction is that folks who have applied under EB 2 India feel that the spillover from ROW EB 2/1 and India EB1 will be sufficient to get them their GC's in 2 years tops. EAD/AP for two years is no big deal. There is no urgency to get things done or the motivation to step up to the plate and make a few calls. If that is the case, then chances are that you are mistaken.
a) we have no estimate of the per country breakdown of pending applications.
b) we have no idea how many EB2 India applied in July 07
c) we dont know the number of multiple applicants who have EB2 and EB3 applications pending (spouse and self).
d) We have no indication of the 300k applications who were stuck in namecheck and are now eligible for approval. Namecheck victims were from all countries (you can see that ROW EB 3 is U)
This affects ROW as well as the retrogressed countries as the per country quota is still fixed.
We cannot wish this mess away. Making a few phone calls at lunch should not be a big deal.
I am Not sure everybody follows Federal Reserve revising short-term rates by every month and Financal analyst were trying to understand language(tone) of Bulletin. And Looking at tone of VISA Bulletin for July 2008 and historical Bulletins EB2 for India is very encouraging till we see the language next month for India.

Considering 7% country quota and 26.7% EB2 quota of 140k, we get 2800 visa for EB2 annually. For first month this number comes out to be 234. Considering 1.2 dependents this means 106 families get GC under EB2.
I am sure they have more than 106 cases before the cutoff of 1 April 2003. This may also include people delayed by background checks.

Here is how I came up with that analysis. Last year they made changes to give GC for those stuck in FBI name check if they passed 180 days. So most of the ROW got their GC last year. There were not many labors approved from 2008. So there is no demand from EB2 ROW this year. With the economy going down, not many would get EB1s either. I don't anticipate many EB5s either this year. So major chunk of EB visas will need to come to EB2I/C. Will CIS do that or not is a different story.

I am sorry for posting in here, but I was wondering if someone actually went in person to the Houston Consulate to get their passport renewed. Also, do we need to have any reason to attend in person at the Consulate such as emergency, etc.
I am from India and my passport is expiring on Aug 17. I read before in the forum that it is better to go in person to renew the passport. Any experiences please let me know.

HSBC denied my refinance application because of EAD status. They said EAD is not one of the statuses they accept. They needed either H1B or GC status. I lost my $325 rate locking fee, not sure what else my real estate attorney is going to charge me because of this denial. I am in the process of talking to other banks.

I filed AP on Jan 4th 2008 and today i saw soft LUD on that and no update status. Seems that some of other members also got soft LUDs on APs today. Dont know what that means? Looks like it take 3-4more months to get AP.
