In theory, you can be the beneficiary of 2 H-1B petitions pending at the same time. This happens fairly often. Both could be approved and then you would be eligible to work for either company as long as that approval had not later been withdrawn.

USCIS reports that 1000 H-1Bs were receipted over the past week with 34,500 now counted. 400 masters cap cases were added bringing the total to 13,000 in that category. That's about on pace with the last several weeks and the exhaustion target in that category remains February 2011. My methodology is simple. I take a rolling average of usage over the last four weeks and then project out in how many weeks the quota will be used up if that pace continues. Thanks - I took this walking along a railroad bed that is no longer in use. I must have chased 10 of these things around before I finally got this one that would hold still long enough to get a descent shot.
