No. It is true to some extent that we are paying more taxes.
Take my case for example. My kid is not an American citizen. She moved with us when she was a baby and H-4 status. So she cannot obtain social security number that is good for "authorized to work". Without the SSN, we were not eligible for certain child tax credit, which was hundreds of dollars. I tried ITIN but I got a formal response from IRS that the child needs to have a SSN to be eligible for the credit.
If you ever filed your tax return yourself and have a kid, you will know what I mean.

I studied in IIT (B.Tech), got M.S. and Ph.D. from here and now a professor. My observations/opinions are as follows:

I have the misfortune of teaching 100's of students who come here with an Anna University (or Osmania) B.Tech./B.E. degree in engineering, and knows absolutely nothing. And I am not exaggerating: they cannot write an elementary program in any language (apparently they learn something called "theoretical" computer programming in which they do not actually learn to program); does not know any mathematics (most cannot integrate x*exp(x); one student could not tell me what is f(0.7) by looking at a graph of x vs. f(x)) and cannot operate simple lab equipments. It is just unbelievable! Anyway, moving on.
I am not sure why people jump onto drawing conclusions so fast...look at the above post from a so called professor....he encountered a couple of a folks from some universities & concludes that those universities are just crappy....!! Many of my colleagues are from the professors' "oh-so-good" list of IITs/univs and they are no better!! (In fact, some of them suck so bad)!!

Now another question for you prof....how come are you working in a university that's giving admissions to such a bunch of crappy folks...!!?? Given this fact, can we also safely assume that the university you are teaching-in is a Crappy one, which could only attract the bottom pile from your above list of crappy-universities??

I agree with the above posts, they are stealing money by having stupid charges. Why do you need to charge a customer Rs.400 for changing his account password. It is absolutely ridiculous! Compare that to a bank in US, you just go online and change the password. Also, they have 2 passwords one called Account password to login to the account and another called Transaction password for making any transactions. So the more number of passwords you have the more you tend to forget either of them and they can charge you Rs.400 for each password reset!:mad:

whats wrong with you guys...you guys are filed in EB3 category...does not mean that you are less then any EB2 person.
cant you understand one simple logic? EB2 category(not an individual) will get cards sooner then EB3 category.
So if you were eligibile or had a choice, why you chose EB3????
now since you did choose, you are supporting this backgate system of porting to EB2? how do you justify that?????
you or your employer told USCIS to get a card for you in EB3 category, if you do not want that, file NEW !!!
In the eyes of americans we are skilled workers, but we all are selfish and vulnerable to white man politics!!!!
DAMN this card and I wish to see when we all cherish our self respect and does not get treated like beggars by USCIS.
If we all have balls then lets do some kind of bycott ...else keep watching your brother in this stupid ration line and you enjoy your food (if you get lucky by USCIS)

The only harsh thing he said was that Indian education was awful. Everything else he said was extremely positive especially when he talked about the amazing progress India is making. I think he said that because he was saying that India is racing ahead and Indians are very successful entrepreneurs. (I am not sure).

If you are objective, can you argue that much of the 350K engineers graduated in India are not up to par. No offense to the graduates, however the schools are often just not up to par. Much of this graduation is private for profit colleges, frequently owned by a few investors or families.
US Engineering colleges are much better accredited in my view.
That said however, India being a much larger country (population wise) there are probably more than 70K good quality engineering grads. coming out of India annually.

There are many members who think IV and other members are fighting for re-reversal of VB or increase in visa number for 2007....
why dont they understand that we are fighting to avoid rejection, we are not asking them to re-revise bulletin, all we want is just accept the application without rejecting them, so that we can save ourselves from loosing money and time. dont make fun of IV and other members who's putting their efforts in it, no matter what the result is. if you dont want to participate please stop visiting this forum.

In addtion to that "legals are first than illegals"- OBAMA. This itself is enough for clearing off all the backlogs.

Guys, please continue to leave voice messages, emailing & faxing those idiots at Atlanta PERM center who moved the staff to do other work like processing h2b cases. We need to be persistent if we need any positive outcome. Would those idiots who reassigned staff to do other work, now turn around and help us be reassigining more staff to clear the backlogs? We need to keep questioning them and bombard them with emails, fax and phone calls. It is very important that we act now, if not you all know how delicate of situation we are all finding ourselves in. 1. Here are the email addresses that I used. Got a response from the NSC email address after three days that I need to wait for 60 days and have to send a written request.

2. Yes, my lawyer did send a explicit letter. Bottom line on that letter was "A request is hereby made to interfile the latest I-140 approval with his "A" file. Kindly make sure that the applicant's pending I-485 file reflects the new I-140 approval which has a priority date of July 8 2003 and it reflects classification under Sec. 203 (b) (2).
3. Also I didn't mention one other thing on the original post was that I have placed multiple call to 800-375-5283 to make sure that my I-485 is processed as EB2.

Forgot to mention, my attorney did state that their office received an approval 2 weeks back whose priority date was not even close to current. She did not share the specifics.
I just checked my online status and it doesnt have any updates since 2007, states its received and pending... Not sure how current is the online info.
