In this case March 9th.
Also another interesting titbit I found was VB moves only by dates
1st
8th
15th and
22nd
When the VB is 1st Feb 05 it covers dates 1st to 7th , when it is 8th 8th to 14th and so on.

My Wife's H1B is expiring in 30 days. We had filed for extension 15 days back and are waiting under regular processing. I contacted local DMV employee( whom I know personally) and he contacted their legal dept in Sacramento to see if we can extend DL based on extension recipt and the answer has come back that we cannot!
Anyone recently extended their DL based on extension notice in CA? If so which DMV is advisable in the bay area? Thanks

I posted this on another thread.. Recapturing lost visa numbers from yester years has to be top priority..
lets fight to recapture Visa numbers from the previous years.. As this article rightly points us, the road ahead:

Still unresolved is the issue of green cards that have gone unused in the past decade or more. USCIS estimates that 10,000 green cards of the 140,000 allotted for employment-based applicants were not issued last year. Immigration Voice estimates that 200,000 in total have gone unused in the last decade. Immigrant advocates have been urging the federal government to offer make these green-card slots available to help relieve the backlog of those waiting for green cards, an estimated 500,000.
Using green cards from previous years would require legislation from Congress. Lofgren says there have been "some discussions going on informally" about whether such a move is possible. But it's no sure thing. It would be difficult to pass such legislation in a Congress that is leery of any immigration issue after a comprehensive reform effort with the support of President George W. Bush and bipartisan leaders in the Senate got shot down earlier this summer.
Meanwhile, immigrant advocates say they will continue to press to speed the process of turning workers with visas into permanent residents. "This [decision] helps us move from a more painful limbo to a less painful limbo, but it's limbo nonetheless," says Immigration Voice's Pradhan. Ok then why dont we teach some respect and humility to professor ji to show some respect for his country men as well..
what a harsh speech that was..seems like some personal anger against india and their colleges...
The only harsh thing he said was that Indian education was awful. Everything else he said was extremely positive especially when he talked about the amazing progress India is making. I think he said that because he was saying that India is racing ahead and Indians are very successful entrepreneurs. (I am not sure).

guys i think USCIS is not interested in giving EB 3 guys GC...
as mostly EB 3 guys r ppl with Bachelors (and less than 5 yrs exp) or who are stuck with EB3 due to there company (like me)...
EB 2 guys r mostly with ppl having masters degree from US...so i guess they will definetly get more preference than eb3...
I guess US wants to raise there economy by giving GCs...so that ppl more ppl will buy houses....
I hope something happens for EB3 also...but I guess in Oct bulletin PD for EB3 will b some month in 2001....
so gud luck to all of us

Nurses from India, Phi also eat up EB3 numbers beyond their alloted .... My understanding is that they will not compete for any eB3 numbers after this...

Hey I was in similar situation. My current H1 is expiring on Sept 30th 2007 and my extension application was filed on Aug 22nd 2007. So I was not expecting my H1 to be approved till way beyond Sept. But then I checked with Local DMV in virginia and they told me I can get a temporary 1 year extension on my DL if I can show them the receipt of my H1 extension application. I got that from my employer and my DL by extended by 1 Yr till Aug 22 2008 ( date when H1 was applied) my state is Virginia if that info helps.
I am in a similar situation. Which DMV office did you visit in VA ?
