Guys. Is this 7% country limit a hard or soft one ?. Assuming 1,40,000 total immigrant visas, India would get 7% of it and that is 9800. Then you have the preference category. Assuming there are unused immigrant visas from other countries, how do they get allocated ?. Does anyone has clear idea ?.

I am kind of confused. For UK visitors visa after I fill in the application forms do I need to go to a center to do my biometric. I am opting to submit the forms in person at the chicago center ...is the biometrics thing will be done during the submission at chicago..?

Our AP expires on August 30 and we don't have any plans to travel this year. We have only plans for next summer.

Am currently on F1 - OPT status (stem OPT). Been working as a volunteer intern for past few months. Currently one of start-up company is interested in hiring me but they do not have a legal department and also not enough resources to apply for H1B. I offered to pay for my H1B fees, but they have no idea how to go about this.
Can anyone please tell how do i go about this? What kind of lawyer should i approach , what information will i need from the company, how much money does all this involve.
The other option is start working for this company , get H1 done through a consultant and transfer the H1b, again this involves legal dept which neither me nor the company has any idea. Please advise .
My OPT is valid until Dec 2011.

We like to share that the H1B cap is extremely close to being reached. The count as of December 15, 2009 is 64,200. This is 1300 cases more than the count from December 11th. This count is very close to the total cap of 65,000 which is actually somewhat reduced by numbers allocated under trade agreements. We continue to watch this very closely, and will provide updates until the FY 2010 cap is reached.
We suggest to act quickly to avoid last minute embarrassment as H-1B Cap may soon be cease to exist.

The Governor has filed her response to the motion argued in court today to delay the implementation of Arizona's SB1070 law on July 24th. Reader USC has discussed some of the arguments in the comments. The LA Times reports on the Nevada governor's race which has Latino Brian Sandoval seeking to become the next Republican governor of the state. Sandoval has risked alienating his Latino base by endorsing the Arizona law and tougher drivers license rules. The GOP is hoping that Latino voters will vote for someone who looks like them even if he or she supports policies that are the polar opposite of what they believe. I doubt very much that will happen. Voters vote their interests first and then may look at a person's ethnicity if two candidates are similar in their views....

My 485 is currently pending from current employer.Getting a new offer from the client for full time job. My labor certification wage is very high around 95k(no benefits) and the new offer is for 80k with benefits. Doing the math the new offer is lucrative. With Current employer paying $1100/month for insurance and with zero vacation time.
Is it recommended to use AC21 and take the new offer even though the salary is less than 15k from labor certification wage. The Job responsibilities are similar.
